Finally...outtakes from Ed Hartwell calendar shoot 2010

in a white krinkled nylon & rayon

washed & frayed cream linen sleeveless shirt w/hood & long drawstring pant

baby blue, washed linen drawstring pant w/patch pocket detaling 

"you can barely see it but Ed is holding a..."

2-ply rayon jaquard crocodile printed, long sleeve, long wrap robe

w/an oversize hood, patch pockets & high side slits detailing.

(inspired a Boxer & a Monk's robe)

backstory: ShakaKingMenswear custom designs, for stylist:Tracy Sipp's shoot w/Ed Hartwell's,

for his CHISELD X-Treme 2011 Fitness Calendar.

it was originally shot for an episode of the RHOA, but when BRAVO pulled the plug on Lisa's

involvement in the show, this episode got pull along w/the Hartwell couple.

it took me over a year to get the photo's from the phtographer and this is still not all the garments that got shot, but this is all the photographer would release to me.

(my orginal agreement was I would get access to the photo's.

they will promise you "anything" to get what they want...

then they give you "whatever" when it's time to make good on the deal.)

(i miss my  photog's in NYC...they understood the value of

keeping your word, makes for good relationships).

i'm backkkkkk.  my blogging (internet connection) b-dam!......arrrrrrrrr!!!!!!
"New York City"......aint noooo...JOKE ( u hear me!?!).  this last trip (the past 3 weeks), NYC frazzled me to no end.  the weather was "unbearable", my "friends"(thats what i'll call them for now) "sucked", the "perfume" of old rotten garbage juice was nauseating and the ppl in NY, all looked "mad and or pissed" off.  sidebar: harlem is in a world, all it's own (that's where i lived while i was visting/working).   
whAt's UP with the bus drivers!/?*!...i mean REALLY!!!!  i rolled up on, 4 different drivers, 2 latin
1 caribbean, 1 african american.  they all responded with a "don't bother me NOW" attitude (while on the job...go figure!!), except one driver...he had some "sweet thang" hemmed up in his bus, doors closed, "chattin" her up (so naturally i was holding him up).  i know "WE ALL" have a plate full and some days are not our best days but NY people (correction ppl all over the world) take a moment to SMILE and say HELLO...because pratice makes perfect.

flashBACK thursday.....vintage SKM

The "Mecca" Collection  Spring/Summer '94

backStory: about two weeks before i was to show this collection (during fashion week),

i was asked to particapte in a group show w/Tracey Reese & Byron Lars, a couple

of french designers (Alphadi was one), a couple of african designers

from Abidjan and one carribean designer...showing in the Ivory Coast, Abidjan, Africa.

the mecca collection was complete, so off i went and i had "one" of the best times of my life. 

"it changed my life and my way of looking @ situations."

this DNR cover is when i was graced with the title

"King of Chic"

this was one of the "great moments" in my design career.

i was pleasently surprised and very PROUD of myself. 

xtra bit: i purchased ALL the accessories for this collection in Abidjan,Africa.

backStory: one day i was working on a test shoot in Drexina's old studio.  when i arrived to DNP Studio there was a shoot already in place.  Drexina was shooting mister Lance Gross...(my niece could die) (in her rachel zoe voice).  i beleive their shoot had something to do with a breast cancer campaign.  Joe Stuckey (the stylist on the shoot) saw my jewelry collection while i was setting up for my shoot.  i offered him the use of some of my stuff.  Joe decided he would use a couple of pieces, from my jewelry collection, in some of the photos.  above is a photo from their shoot.
