This collection was shown during the "Black Congressional Caucus" weekend in Washington DC @ The Tantra Lounge, sponsered in part, by the GWFCC (The Greater Washington Fashion Chamber of Commerce, founder Christine Brooks-Cropper). It was my first time showing a full collecion for my customers outside of my boutique. BackStory: model selection- for this show like all boutique shows i use models of varies ages and sizes, so the men who shop with me can see themselves walking down the runway. I've always got/get "flack" from my model selection... manily that my line up is too/all black or the models are to muscular, to tall, to ethnic...etc. i find it very intresting, considered all "others" designers use models without any or very little diversity...season after season after season... and very few are held accountable. The "double standard" in the Fashion industry slows the industry/world growth .
