Last week...in NYC, I was visiting my good, longtime friend, photog Daniel Dease. While he was on his computer, working on his website, I noticed this photo he shot of Tyson and Richard Elms, in SKM.
BackStory: Model Agent, Bethann Hardison, came to my Spring "94 Collection-"MECCA". After the fashion show Bethann came and congratulated me on a "great show". She ask me if i would be intrested in working with two of her newer models, on some test shots (funny thing is that DDease had stop by, my studio, days before my showing, and comment on these new models Bethann was repping and how he liked their look). Bethann said Danny would be shooting the photos and I was all in (i luv Danny's photos...he is da BOMB...most of the photos on my site are by him). http://www.shakakingny.com/).
So the above shoot was born. We shot them in my, MECCA '94 Collection. I did all the styling & grooming (not much of that needed...w/faces like that). It was intresting that both models where biracial w/Asian heritage and if i'm not mistaken African Carribean. The shoot was fun, the guys were pleasent to work with. We shot 4-5 looks on each guy + doubles.
Note: A couple of their early magazine shoots, fashion editors shot Richard & Tyson together. "Ummm...i wonder...?...Im jus sayin"
Ohhh and Note II: DNR (the men's wear fashion bible), dubbed me..."the King Of Chic" on the COVER of the Sept. 24, 1993 issuse after viewing my spring '94 Collection "Mecca", which was inspired by Spike Lee's movie " Malcolm X".
...(singing) memories like the corners of my mind...sk!
